March
is gone!
For Multicultural Month each class/grade level picked a country to research.
They presented a short report on their findings during morning announcements.
This was also the major month for preparing for the Criterion-Referenced
Competency Test in April. We have sharpened our skills with special
activities all month. There was a CRCT Parent Institute Thursday, March 7 in
the Cafeteria at 6:30. Refreshments were served. Did you attend?
February was a busy
month! Feb. 1st was a celebration of dads. Many dads came to Reese Road Friday
morning for a special treat. We were
learning about famous people for Black History Month.
See our special visitors ...cellist, a cappella chorus from Carver High
School and more!
Monday, February 4, Mrs.
Scott's class was featured on the morning announcements with quotes from
famous people. They read biographies about their person and did
research to learn all they could about them. Then they came dressed in
clothes they might have worn. To see pictures:
February 11-15
was "Bring your
Family to School week." The Family Night presentation Tuesday at 6:00 was
presented by Mrs. Weeks, School Counselor, and Mrs. Ogletree,
Pre-Kindergarten Coordinator. Miss Jennifer and Miss Kathy from Barnes and
Noble shared stories in the media center with the children while Mrs. Weeks
and Mrs. Ogletree conducted a workshop with the parents in the cafeteria.
Awesome!

Thursday, the 14th, the PTA
was awarded a check for their successful grant application to the National
PTA for Bring Your Family to School Week. The PTA National President
Jan Harp Domene and Georgia State PTA Past-President and National Board
Member Laura Dobbs joined Georgia State and Muscogee County PTA dignitaries
to recognize our hardworking PTA! To see pictures:
Our PTA is to be congratulated
for the fine work they do for all of us! We send our heartfelt thanks to
them and to all the parents who came to school for lunch on Valentine's
Day/Special Kid Day and/or encouraged their children with Special Kid
Letters!
Guest
Musician Eric Litwin played guitar and banjo and sang with all grades. He
shared different kinds of music - folk songs, blues, and much more!
The Geography Bee January 31
was won by Aaliyah Smith. We hope to have the pictures posted here by next
week of all the contestants and the judges and moderator.

The Little White House in Warm Springs was built in 1932
by Franklin Delano Roosevelt before he was elected President. He was
paralyzed by polio and found that the warm spring water improved the
condition of his legs. Did you see the 1938 Ford convertible
he used to drive? Did you feel the weight of his braces in the
museum? Did you see Fala's scratch marks on the front door? To
